Preparing your skin for your wedding day should be done months before your actual wedding date. Here are a few tips we have come up with that we think will help in preparing your skin:
Food-You are what you eat- as many times as you have probably heard this, you should know it’s true. Eating healthy foods is one of the top tips for healthy skin. Here are some examples of what types of food that can help your skin glow:
- Foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids ( Tuna, herrings, mackerel and sardines)
- Foods containing Vitamin A or beta-carotene ( Sweet potatoes, carrots, mangos and spinach)
- Foods containing zinc (Beef, peanuts, roasted pumpkin)
- Fresh fruit and vegetables

Hydration-Skin hydration is very important, especially for people that tend to have dry skin and especially here in Colorado with the colder weather. Drinking lots of water is the key to keeping you skin hydrated. Water also aids in bringing nutrients to the skin. It is important to avoid dehydrating drinks, such as cola, coffee and alcohol. Bathing or showering in hot water tends to dry out skin, and should be avoided as much as possible.

Sleep- Getting a good night’s rest can also affect how your skin appears. As people sleep, skin rejuvenation takes place and cells undergo a process of repair. This is important because this is the time when the skin is restored and recovers from daily stress. To help skin stay healthy, you should ensure you get at least seven (preferably eight) hours of sleep a night.

Skin Care- Regular skin care is a necessity! Regular cleansing, toning, and moisturizing are three things that you should perform twice a day. Also because of the elevation in Colorado, sunscreen is always a must, SPF 15 moisturizer should be used all day everyday.

Facials- If spending money on weekly facials is out of the wedding budget, you can always perform quality do-it-yourself facials from home. Here is how: Cleanse with a rich moisturizing cleanser, remove with a cotton pad and then exfoliate skin. Then get steam from water that includes essential oils that you enjoy, which will soothe and calm your pores. The use a face mask, which can be bought from the store or prepared by materials at home. Use a damp cloth or cotton ball to gently rub off mask and wash face with warm water. At this time you will begin to gently massage your face with vitamin E and continue to do so for 5-10 minutes, then apply your favorite toner. After finishing with your do-it-yourself facial, wash face first with warm and then cool water. Apply some moisturizer over neck and face. Now, enjoy your glow!
